1997 1c Doubled Die Obverse / DDO -001 (Stage C) Or Just A Well Placed Hit And Machine Doubling?

Grelko Valued Member United States 232 Posts	Posted 09/13/2020 04:41 am There's a small " Rim Fin" going almost the entire way around the coin, which gets stronger near the bottom. I wasn't able to see the die marker by the lapel. (If it should have been there, seeing that the coin is off center.) There is however, a mark inside the upper R of America, unless that's just a zinc bubble in the perfect spot. Or it's just a very well placed hit on the ear (and almost nowhere else) with Machine Doubling. The entire obverse looks a bit strange when I compare it to other 1997s, like it's slightly 3d. Too bad they never take pictures showing every part of the coin, just certain ones. It'd be nice to see what the die markers "if any" and the ear, plus any other doubling looked like for the stage C. I just found DDO-001 yesterday (see previous post) and you can see the doubling takes the shape of the earlobe and is not a straight line.
