New to coin collecting however I was searching Kennedy halves yesterday and found this. I'm not sure if this is a clad error...or a counterfeiting attempt. Any ideas would be great

Why can't I see my pic?

@eig, first welcome to CCF. I have split your reply off into a separate thread as it is best practice to have each coin in a different thread.

to CCF. Not an error,PMD of some sort. A substance is "on" the coin.

As Coinfrog ribbeted, its post mint damage. There is noting in the minting process that could do this. Counterfeiting is generally not done on a clad Kennedy 50¢ cent piece since few people use them and the effort to do so would not be worth it.

I agree with everything Earle42 said. Spend this one and keep searching.

Could be an interesting coin to hang onto--a conversation piece.
