To celebrate my 1000th post I will be giving away five different prizes consisting of three RED Uncirculated Lincoln Cent varieties in each prize. one DDO (1959-D DDO-001), one DDR (1960 DDR-002) and one RPM (To Be Determined) to five lucky winners.

1000th-Post-Giveaway---Calling-All-Forum-Members---Five-Winners

Way back in 1787 the first coin authorized by the United States Congress was struck. The Fugio Cent https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugio_cent designed by Benjamin Franklin and minted in New York (amongst other places). During this time period, communications was also somewhat of a challenge. Unlike today where images and messages are but a click away to acquire desired information in an instant, back then communication was limited to written letters, pamphlets, newspapers and books (Benjamin Franklin was also the first US Postmaster). Eventually, communication evolved to telegraph, telephone... and for images the camera and printing press with no means of electric transmission. Anyway, all this just to introduce the glass insulators pictured in this contest. Electricity and communication over wire was the standard back the day and the glass insulated the wires from the telephone/telegraph poles supporting them so the signal could travel over long distances. I can't imagine not having access to computer, smart phone and internet today!

1000th-Post-Giveaway---Calling-All-Forum-Members---Five-Winners
Insulator #1 (Mickey Mouse-CD257)
Insulator #2 (Toll-CD121)
Insulator #3 (Beehive-CD145)
Insulator #4 (Western Union-CD125)
Insulator #5 (Hoopskirt-CD152)

**HERE'S THE CONTEST**

The Whitman 9014 Mercury dime coin folder has labeled slots for 77 coins. Pick a Date/Mint from this folder and if it matches one of the five I have written down you are a WINNER!

Rules:
1. Every member is eligible and I pay shipping (US and International). One prize (3 coins) per person, five different winners.
2. Pick a date from 1916-P to 1945-S (The 9014 book has some undated slots, these don't count)
3. One pick per person per day. I am in Texas so a new day begins at midnight central time
4. The 1st person to pick a correct date/mint is the 1st winner.
5. The 2nd person to pick a correct date/mint is the 2nd winner. and so on until we have FIVE winners.
6. Each of the five winners will receive (one) 1959-D DDO-001, (one) 1960 DDR-002 and (one) RPM
7. So what are the glass insulators for? I thought you would never ask. I have placed one coin with an RPM under each of the five insulators. Each of the five winners, in turn, will pick an insulator from the list in this post (1st winner goes 1st). You DON'T win the insulator but the coin (RPM) under the insulator you choose is YOURS! Of course, the 5th winner will still be a winner, but whichever insulator is left will have to be the selection.
8. Please ask if you need me to clarify anything, I would like for this to be fun for everyone.

Congrats on your 1000!! You are know a Pillar of the Community;)

I'm going to pick my favorite Mercury dime other than the 1916-D

1942-p

Reason this is my favorite is that there is a 1942/1 which I don't have so I got an ms 1942 to put in its place :)

Good idea! My guess for today is 1941 D.
