Do you think this mark was done by the mint, or by something later. The Vick is pristine.

This looks like Post Mint Damage ( PMD).

Damage. I've seen Barber dimes with this too. I read a thread somewhere speculating that it was caused by old coin counter tubes with a screw mechanism that might damage the top coin. Something like this.

Otherwise a Gumball Machine or anything that rotates perhaps.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't figure out how it could make a mark like that without bending or damaging the back. The coin dispenser plunger makes sense. I am fiddling around with som coins collected in a jar by my friends Mom who live to be 106 and was born in 1910.
