I just found this 1909 VBD penny in my jar and it's got a lot of surface damage on both sides but I'm seeing a 2 after the date on the high ridge. It's probably just more damage but thought I would check here. Also, under my loupe I'm seeing a turned S and below that I see a turned D. Hopefully my pics are good enough. Is this coin worth much?

Thx,
Beth

It's impossible to be a D Mint Mark but if it was an S that would be a crying shame . Just a roadkill cull .

Sad. And to think that coin left the mint all those many years ago with such high hopes.

Could just be damage and not a mint mark at all

No mintmark here, unfortunately (or fortunately- what a shame it would be were that an S). Just a 1909 VDB that's had an unfortunate life.

Well it kinda does look like an S,
But T-BOP is correct. Its roadkill now.
Otherwise an OK peace for your personal
Collection.

I'm seeing a T on the reverse spelling out TONE CENT. I also see F YLURIBUS UMOM.

But....probably just damage.
