Have to admit these "damaged" coins are a lot more attractive to me than the painted ASE's you see every once in awhile.

Personal taste.... I despise anything colorized. BUT, I've always thought these were interesting if they were all done on an UNC example and looked like they do in the sellers photos. I've seen this done on Buffs and they're almost always on circulated examples and they look bad.

Quote:Ruthenium/gold clad Eisenhower dollar on EBay I find these black-and-gold coins attractive. I don't own any, but I do have one of the September 11th medals from the US Mint that was given the same treatment. I think it looks good! Quote: You know I thought about it because of course I did! You need at least one jbuck! Quote:Would be a cool treatment for Franklin halves.... They are available: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-BLACK...AOSwSPBaZpm9

So will you be adding this to one of those "last page holes" in your newly started Ike Album?

I don't think so. Maybe? It's really cool looking. But there isn't a hole for it.

Has anyone actually had one of these types of Ruthenium plated coins before? How do they actually look in hand?

They look nice in the pictures. Probably even look better in hand being on such a large coin - Hint, hint...........

I've just seen "in hand" pics scattered online. It really comes down to the quality of the coin pre-process. The more circulated, the worse they look.
I'm very tempted to buy a couple from one of the places with the best reviews just to find out. I hate being the person that returns items, but if it's not as described that always an option I guess!

We will see how I am feeling tomorrow on Free For All Friday. I just noticed... the reverse stars are gold on the smaller image, but not on larger image.
