Almost missed this, going thru my Sacagawea coins to roll up and take back to the bank. Looks like a strike thru of a small piece of metal shavings. What do you guy think?

Looks like a ding from another coin. John1

It appears that the small piece of metal shaving may have caused imprint damage on the die. If that is the case, there should be a few more errors exactly the same as this one.

Full photos--obverse and reverse--might be useful. Would like to see more of the apparent toning.

I agree with John1. It appears that there's some displaced metal around it, but closer pictures could confirm or disconfirm our suspicions.

Sorry for not post these pics with the original, didn't think it would matter. Here's the obverse and reverse

Hard to tell from the photos, but is the area in question raised or incuse?

The affected area is incuse, forcing metal to splash out, thus the wave we see. Also the Star tip is also flattened showing the same push outwards on the previous start tip area. Just coin damage.

Disappointing for sure, but thanks for the lesson. Really appreciate your expertise.
