Is this 1952-D penny PMD or clip error? Nice looking coin, but no idea if it's fake or an awesome find. ( This has the potential of being my second clipped Penny find) got my fingers crossed.
Thank you all in advance for any help.

I think it's fake. Looks too good to be true.

@westernsky , that's what I was leaning towards too. " Too good to be true".
Can't figure out how, there's no machine damage on the edges or scapes, looks like just material.
Maybe someone has seen a similar attempt to clip a coin? Any help or examples will help thank you.

It looks real to me. The third pic shows a tapered rim over the T in TRUST and the Blakesley Effect is visible on the reverse rim opposite the clip. Definitely a keeper for me.

Unsure about authenticity. Clip looks to have a ragged edge under 'OF AMERICA'. Could be glare on the photos, but I'm not seeing the Blakesley Effect. Hope others weigh-in.

IJN1944, I'm still learning about ragged clips. Fake/real aside, the coin looks like a great example to say "it's not a ragged clip because ..." Would you mind telling me more?

Have you tried putting a cent into the clipped area. If the opening is too large, then it is fake. Let me know, so I can use the images for a faked mint error.

See the red oval for what @spruett is talking about--a flattening of the opposite side rim.

The lines on the rim looks like what they used to hold the coin with to cut it on the Blakesley area?

@coop, the opening is not too large. Overlayed a penny and it's the same size.
Adding more pictures, I'm not sure about this one

The details seems to be to "sharp" at the clip and the taper on the rim by the "T" looks more like a dent. I'm on the fake side. If somebody can duplicate such a nice clip then they can duplicate the Blakesley Effect also..
