I just realized I put this in the wrong forum. How do I switch it to the error forum?

One of the mods should be able to move it for you.
The displaced metal around the marks indicates damage, i.e. something hit it after it was struck and pushed the metal around. I've seen coins in mint sets with similar damage caused by the machine that seals them in cellophane. I'd guess that your coins were removed from mint sets and rolled up.

They were in the original rolls from the bank or mint, wherever rolls like this were purchased back then. Never been opened. Unless they would do something like that at the mint, or the bank?

I don't think they use cellophane in 1976 for proof sets. Did they? I'm looking at a 1958 proof set in cellophane, and the cellophane marks are not the same. Additionally, the cellophane is pressed together with heat not a strike. Sorry, I just don't see that being the case. These marks are struck into the coin. Here are a couple pictures of the edge of the coin under the scope.

Odd for sure, I've never seen anything like it, makes me lean towards PSD/PMD...can we get a pix of the wrappers?

huh, very strange indeed. The marks on top of the coin is twice the width of the reeding of the edge. (One line every other incused reed mark).

Hey Greasy, Probably a newbie mistake, but the paper from the rolls I threw away. I can tell you they were red in color, folded at the ends, and so tightly rolled, the paper came off in pieces. They were stamped with "Bank of San Lorenzo, Calif" or "Bank of San Leandro, Calif." I cant remember which city. I do remember the "calif." because I though how odd it was to abbreviate the state like that. And again it was stamped not printed. Each coin on the end of the roll are dyed a shade of red, and all coins rims are all a shade of red too, from the paper. These rolls were never opened untill last Friday, by me. They were my Boss's fathers. He died a few years back and his coin collection was split up between his boys. My boss has no interest in coins, but since I've gotten into the hobby, he asked me to take a look at what he has. I am the only one to open these rolls since 1976. Because of these circumstances, I don't see any way that there could be PMD. I found one other coin that looked liek this on the internet, which I shared in a previous post.

Thank you Coop! That still makes me scratch my head on how in the heck that coin got into that roll. I've got four rolls of nothing but 1976 D quarters. I don't think I'll ever know. Thanks again for everyone's input, very disappointed now. :( Lol Someday I'll find something cool!

Just a mint damaged coin, from the sealer for the mint sets. PSDWhich door to choose: Which would be the correct choice to get through safely and survive? Answer tomorrow.

I choose Door #1, if it hasn't been fed in 3 months it's dead. Though Door 2 would also be viable as it's 120,000 volts, but the Amps aren't specified.
