1798 8/7 Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle Dime, in a PCGS holder, probably Fr(02) or AG(03) at the very best. Looks Fr(02) to me though.

Agree with FR-02. Still a rather nice junk box find!

Is there a label on the holder? Wonder what it says.

From a junk box? Congrats on a very nice find! Looks like a nice original example.

I think you might have a real rarity there. Isn't that the 13 star variety?

I'll go with FR-02 also . Mama always said that searching through a junk bin is like a box of chocolate , you never know what you're gonna find .

I would agree with FR02 if not for the fact that PCGS reports none in FR02 and AG03 but one each in PO01 and G04. I don't know, maybe they just don't update the pop report frequently?
I'll say PO01.

I don't think the details coins are reported in the PCGS population reports....is this correct? I think this may be a good details grade.

I'd gladly house that in my measly collection of VGish Capped Bust Dimes. Nice piece, travelled through many hands and pockets along the way during a great time in history.

This is more than a typical junk box 2x2 find - appears to be a PCGS certified early USA mint coin. What does the TPG label say?

I'm at FR02.
Guessing you found it in a junk bin and then submitted for grading?
If so, very nice find indeed.
