Imo a lamination peel is usually along the same plane. And there is usually evidence of an improper alloy mix. The cleanliness of the said area is reminiscent of a strike thru. But I'm open to thought and opinions,I'm def not always right

Lamination that was partially peeled and rest peeled off. Notice the difference in the edges and colors. Let's see who weighs in because I am not an expert. Just learning also.

A lamination would show a ghost image. This is a struck through debris issue. The weight should be normal. The metal just just pushed around more on this one. Whatever the debris was, it was pretty thick. Not a lamination issue.

On a lamination coin you will see a ghost image where the lamination peeled off:  If this were damage, then that ghost image would be flattened.  On the OP's coin, what was struck through was a lot thicker than normal. It is not PSD as the reverse is normal. If something was pressed into the coin, the opposite side would bulge out. But because it happened during the strike. The fields on the reverse prevented that from happening. CoopHome: What is a ghost image on a lamination.Edited by coop

Cool struck through, looks like a gas mask or virus shield. The tip of the hair is interesting, looks detached.
