Curious if anyone has an idea about what's goin on with my silver dollar I'm curious if this is damage or error...thanks everyone:)

@bt, first welcome to CCF. Second, at the risk of stating the obvious, environmental damage occurs when a coin is left unprotected by rain and the elements, such as when buried. For your coin though, it looks more like a layer of silver paint which is now mostly peeled/worn away, especially on the high points. Let's see what others think to see if we can come to a consensus.

Looks like paint to me, on the reverse, JMHO.

First of all that is a Peace dollar not a morgan. I think it is environmental damage.

It appears to be paint. Soak the coin in Acetone if it is paint, lacquer or glue it will come off. The Acetone will not hurt the coin, but do not rub.

ED and/or glue. Not worth messing with, it's only worth silver value at most. Zero collector value.

No one has said it, so FYI, there is no "missing layer" on these. I assume in your title you're referencing something you read or saw about missing clad layer coins being more valuable, which only occurs on coins that are clad to begin with.
