I wasn't exatly sure which forum to put this topic in, but it seems like most/all the U.S. Mint releases that are impacted by bot traffic are NIFC/NCLT releases, so here it is. The United States Mint announced their solution to Bulk Purchasers utizing bots (or "BOTS" as the article says - I wasn't aware that it was an acronym). The magic bullet is a change to TOS. No offense to the Boy Scouts, but "scout's honor" doesn't seem like a viable fix to me.

I'm trying to be optimistic about any attempts by the mint to shut down the BOT's and give collectors a fighting chance. IMO any of the mints solutions to the BOTs will be worked around by the programmers rather quickly. Programmers are very resourceful and creative when it comes to figuring out how they are being blocked. I don't think the upcoming proof ASE's will be targeted by the BOT's as much due to the high mintage numbers. I think the Morgans, Peace, and two coin ASE set will be.

Absolutely nothing has changed and the upcoming ASE and Morgan ordering periods will be just another 30 minute fiasco of frustration and anger! Business as usual.

Modifications to terms is pointless like this. Those they are trying to affect live and breath rigging schemes to play that game for their own sales maximization. All this did was give them something fun to do for a couple days while they reprogram their own operations.

Quote: or "BOTS" as the article says - I wasn't aware that it was an acronym It is neither an acronym nor an initialism. At least not in this context. This "solution" only applies to those in the bulk purchase program. Sammy Scriptkiddie and Bennie Bootseller can still pull all the shenanigans they want.

Does the bulk purchase program even have anything at all to do with the 15 minutes of hlel that happens on each release?

Yes, their purchases reduce what is available for sale to the rest of us.

I'm glad the mint is doing something... which is a lot more than professional sports teams do with their tickets. I get it that in business, you just want to sell your product period. However, the secondary market locks-up large blocks of inventory and sells them to the same people who wanted to buy them. Except now, they have to buy that product at a higher price.
Sports ticketing and the Mint should seek to sell their product to the people who are their core business. Not sell to the block buyers who make a business model from an unlevel playing field.

The implication is that the "BOTS" are being released by the bulk purchasers or dealers? Who's to say that I didn't release one?
(I didn't by the way.)
Just curious as to who the culprits may be. I also heard on another string that if we have multiple tabs open as I normally do, their BOT removal machine (apologies to the Cult) may flag me as one. Is that true?

I wonder if the bounties these companies place on new releases will be considered "circumvention" as communicated in this new policy. Like "We will pay you $400 per coin for X if you purchase on our behalf."

Won't affect me one bit since I no longer deal with the mint in my own country.

United States Mint Issues New Terms for Bulk Purchase Program to Improve Online Order System. https://coinweek.com/us-mint-news/u...rder-system/Quote:To address the extraordinarily high volume of automated web robot (BOT) traffic targeted at the Mint's online sales site (www.catalog.usmint.gov) and to prevent the type of disruptions that Mint customers experienced during the initial pre-order window for the Morgan and Peace dollars, the United States Mint has now identified and implemented a solution that we expect will mitigate most of the issues caused by BOT traffic. To further enhance the customer experience, the Mint is introducing new Terms and Conditions for all bulk purchase program members. Continued membership in the bulk program will be conditional upon agreement to the new terms and conditions, which explicitly restrict, among other things, bulk members' use of BOTS to purchase United States Mint inventory reserved for online ordering. The new terms provide that: Read the rest in the article if you please.

I'm on a fiber network and according to their cloud flare I'm too fast to not be a bot.....
the whole thing is jenky. Cloudflare always hits me with captchas if I make it that far, and I will usually get pegged as a bot due to refreshing and opening new windows, I guess too quickly to be human or something.... which is nonsense.
I get none of that on the website from my cellphone, but their website still crashes like it has AIDS or something.
One thing is for sure, they haven't fixed anything, the website is still going to crash, and they are morons for STILL doing two hot releases at the same time. Whatever they are saying is just conducting lip service when they KNOW the site can't handle a couple hot items being opened for sales at the exact same time.
Notice they aren't fixing that,,,, nope. A main issue is the "couple hot releases at the same time". but instead they go to Cloudflare, Captchas and bot buster antics rather than stagger the releases.....
Oh, it's gonna crash all right, bet on that.

I'm on enrollment/subscription for ASEs. So, if that fails... One hour to go. Good luck to all the CCF faithful that are trying to get these the old fashioned way.
