@ski, first welcome to CCF. We are glad to have you joining us here. That looks like a globule of solidified braze—in other words, metal added to this coin after it left the mint. If you can, please post the weight so that we can see how much heavier this cent has become. Thx.

I feel a scale needs to be my next Amazon purchase. My food scale doesn't go low enough.

Will keep you posted

First thought is solder, second thought is no way this was/could fit in a standard roll.

Looks like copper solder. (back then they had copper solder for fixing copper roof material. The weight will be over 3.11 grams. Altered coin.

I'm thinking a glancing blow from target practice. Maybe a pump-action bb gun (rifle) was used. Reverse side looks incused to me..... Odd location for a jewelry mount.

So it ended up weighing exactly 3.0 grams.

The scale goes out to the 100 decimal point, so its not an issues with the scale, and I tested other pennies that were weighted correctly.

Well coin wear will lighten a coin removing some of the mint devices on the coin. The Add on wasn't enough to make it too heavy.
