This one has me a little stumped, I'm fairly certain it's PMD but looks like metal has been removed then added I the coin, what do you think?

Agree, post strike damage, which not only 'cut' into the coin, but moved metal laterally as well.

Ya I was sure it was PMD just wondered if like the other severely damaged penny I posted(looks like a bomb went off from it's center) has like pieces of the leaf gone and placed elsewhere on the coin. Like that one it kinda looks like someone actually took time to remove and replace metal on the coin, there is no other dents and the coin it self is not warped or anything. I'm surprised out of the couple thousand pennies I grabbed only 3-4 are really damaged this bad, most are in the same condition between vf20 to BU I would guess, mayb some higher grades but it's hard to tell with pennies for me because they have almost all lost that mint luster.

I don't think that there is any "added" metal that had been removed. It looked to me that whatever went thru/on the coin just left a trail of metal along the edges or end of the thrust. The metal was just irrigated from the cut to along the edges. The damage does not appear to be at the same location Obv & Rev.

with Coinfrog. It looks like someone tried to cut it with scissors, but the coin flipped and ended up sandwiched between the blades. The metal that has been pushed to the side goes in opposite directions on each face.

This Cent (not Penny) has made the acquaintance with a rather sharp and strong tool!

If you can think of a way to garage-too-duplicate what you see on a coin, then someone already beat you (and the coin) to it.

@Earle42, what do you mean? If you are saying there is images of every kind of damage on a coin out there or that someone had found a more damages/altered coin the I definitely agree:p I know when I see a damaged face value coin, though enjoy posting them.by the way if anyone ever uses my DDD coins for an article or damaged coins as a reference please let me know lol. Doubt that would be the case with the quality I've posted since I've started posting.
