The lam is peeling all over the obverse. Shows best at date.

I think it is more of a woody than a LAM. And the scratch takes away any collectability.

My term for a coin like this is "incipient lamination".

You can see it starting all over the obverse, (my old grandad would say "It's fixin' to peel"), but it just never quite happened.

Don't think you can call it a retained lam until after something has come off and then hung around.

Interesting. Scratch or odd die crack? Emerging lamination issues, likely associated with woody-like planchet composition. Likely cleaned in days long past.
