Very nice. I see a spot of starting on the reverse (upper left on building), acetone it asap. John1

Any CCF opinions on the date?
I would like to get some confirmation before I submit it, thanks!

I'm going to put my vote in as a 1966 as well. I think I can see the upper arm of the number 6 in your picture. There aren't any other numbers that have the same upper 'arm' as the number 6 exhibits...(I don't think.... )

I do not think it is a 1966,because the steps are to sharp. John1

That is truly amazing! An incredible coin! Date looks like 1990 or 1996 to me.....

Quote: I do not think it is a 1966,because the steps are to sharp. John1 STOP THE PRESS!!!!! :) The title of the post is a 1996 Jefferson... but somehow we got onto a 1966 Jefferson...lol. You are absolutely right John, great observation there! I believe I am now seeing (and hopefully it is not paradoia) what appears to be a P mint mark. Anyone else see what looks like a P? And now that I have my bearings straight on exactly where the date should be, I'm now with CoinHunter in his evaluation. Definitely not a 1966 (as there were no mint marks this year) and the steps are definitely too sharp for a 66'.

I thought the P mint mark was obvious to see on the coin as well as in the title. John1

On the 1965-1967 coins there were no mintmarks on those years. Having a 'P' mintmark there places it post 1980. But I agree with the 1996-P call or 1990-P. Making some side by sides of the date areas, should nail it down. A side point: What is the big difference between the 1965 &1966 nickels?
1966 and forward, all had the 'FS' intials on the lower area on the obverse.
