Well I don't like the reverse rim at all . Aside from that typical 14-s Uncirculated Nickel , MS-63+ .

That rim issue would bother me as well.

I see a greenish spots where the red arrows point. The one at the rim in front of the buffalo head concerns me the most. Light dark spots all over Indians forehead. Die crack along outer feather and possibly another on reverse through "United". S in "Cents" looks unattractive at bottom. This could be AU58 or MS63/64 ish. I lean to AU58 personally. A slider. It's an OK coin and the $225 price seems in the ballpark but over the fence and a little high. I sent Buffalo nickels to ANACS and I was way off on my grading but I think they were tough on my lot that day. A couple with similar issues in the early part of the series came back lower or corroded. At best, I'd make an offer of $175 before I'd "Buy it Now" if I wanted this one. But I don't. Not this one. Better off getting one slabbed with a straight grade.

AU58-MS63 for me. IMO, priced a bit on the high side. Green spots are also a concern of mine. A bit suspicious (but not uncommon) that they are all in protected areas. Could have been more spots at one point that have already been treated.

Thank you for all of the comments snd observations. I noticed the spots but didn't even consider the rim. I will pass.

Good seller, decent photos, free returns... not bad at all. I would expect the low end grade wise just in case it looks funky in hand. Like what TNG said, expect an AU58 slider. If it is MS then it is a bonus

For that much money I'd want it slabbed by NGC or PCGS. Authentication doesn't appear to be an issue but condition might be.

You are correct to pass because of green spots, rim issue, and there is a light scratch from chin to hair.

LMDS obverse and reverse, extensive die clashing and some of the most aggressive die polishing out there. The dies are very slightly rotated, most noticeable on the chin/EPU clash and "LI" of LIBERTY/right rear leg clash. The weak LIBERTY is a design issue, rather than strike weakness, for 1913-14-15. Slider, with very light evidence of circulation. Few contact marks for the grade, but serious concerns with the early corrosion. I have doubts whether the corrosion could be removed or stopped, and I would expect some pitting below the corrosion. It's definitely an interesting example, but it has its issues. IMHO, there are better 1914-S Buffs out there for the grade and price. I'd pass on this one, too.
