Sitting here awkwardly, as it's all come this. When I hit submit, this will be my 1000th post. My journey began in 2015. I wanted to get back into the hobby, but also wanted to sell some stuff to kickstart getting back into the hobby. I needed some knowledge and stumbled across the Coin Community. I think I've browsed the topics everyday since. In the fall of 2015, I'd never previously been on a board where I had posted more than a few dozen times. Not sure how I got to 1000, but I guess it means this is a pretty special place. In 2015, I hadn't sired any offspring yet. That changed in 2017. This morning, my toddler and I wandered into a shop as a way to breakup a long morning drive to northern Utah. We are working on a date set of V nickels together. When it's done, this set will include 5 generations of procured specimens in the set. When we got to the shop's Nickel display, her attention was immediately grabbed by a pretty old gold foiled 1897. She liked the gold. I'm not sure if one of these dates other than 1883 no-cents counts a true racketeer V, but it was pretty and who am I to say no to my lil collector? I got married earlier in 2015, few months before I joined the Community. My wife has slowly given me a name with great affection, Numisnerd. I've earned it. The core of my set remains the same, I'm a sucker for an '82. But with the support and knowledge you all have so kindly shared, I've branched out a little bit. I've started a Buffalo and Thai type set. The thrill of the hunt has only grown since 2015. And after we've finished the V nickels, we have sets of Mercury dimes, Franklin halves, and Morgan dollars started by my grandfather to finish up. I hope to be here a long while! So again, thank you to everyone. Especially Bobby and the moderators who have cultivated and maintained such an incredible website for us Numisnerds. Edited by Collects82 10/23/2021 2:39 pm

Very nice story! I will ask John1's usual question for him, "giveaway time?"
Edit: switching from Jbuck to John1

Congrats! I hope my son gets into the hobby in a few years, he already won't leave my hobby area alone and gets upset when he can't be close to my desk:p.
