Nice-looking coins! Is there a story behind each of your selections?

Looking good! Here is my row, which I feel looks much worse than yours. You may noticed I edited in the Monroe Doctrine half rather than take a new photo.

Here is my row: I picked ones that I felt show a good cross section of American History with two of the early type and two the modern type.

@jbucK: Four openings, only three types. It seems like it's time to replace one of those '82 Washington half dollars with a different type!

@commems,
There are really no story to my selections beside I preferred the art, and design of the older commemorative coins. The modern commemorative coin either clutter the field, without center point of interest, or the fonts and art misses the combination flow. If we look at the 2020 Mayflower coin sets, the US coin design is what I meant by clutter, especially the gold coin on the $10 side.

  Mine represent significant points in US history - Columbus discovers America, Pilgrim settle, Revolutionary War and westward expansion.

Looking good everyone. @jbuck - I have to agree with commems, your set would be improved with the addition of a 4th type coin in there.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Quote: It seems like it's time to replace one of those '82 Washington half dollars with a different type! Nu-uh! Two "types," proof and uncirculated. (It is like that line from The Blues Brothers, "We have both kinds of music. Country and Western.") I bought those direct from the mint in 1982, my very first "not a proof set" Mint purchase. The OGP are tucked away in my storage box and I still have the brochure they sent to goad me into buying them.

If I had a 7070 album. I would include these.

Seeing what others have included in their albums has triggered my thought process. I'm not working on a Dansco 7070 , and I already have a complete Type Set of the coins, so it's more of a theoretical / What If? scenario for me. Here are the four I would include in the album: 1. 1892 World's Columbian Exposition Half Dollar: It's not the most artistic of the classic-era commemorative coins, but it was the first and, with my enjoyment of the history behind things, I would have to include "Chapter 1" of the US Commemorative Coins story. 2. 1926 Oregon Trail Memorial Half Dollar OR 1927 Battle of Bennington / Vermont Independence Sesquicentennial Half Dollar: I'm a fan of high-relief, historical art medals and these two half dollars have always struck me as having the most "medal-like" design aesthetics. I like their relief and overall bold design approach. The Frasers (James Earle and his wife Laura Gardin) did a great job with the Oregon Trail coin and Charles Keck did a fabulous job with the Bennington-Vermont coin. I would be happy with either in my album OR 3. 1837 Roanoke Colony Memorial: A coin that commemorates an early English attempt at colonization in the New World - one that predates Jamestown and Plymouth - is a strong justification for inclusion in my set - the facts that I like the coin's design and that it is associated with the history of the state in which I currently live are nice bonuses! 4. 1982 George Washington 250th Birth Anniversary: For similar reasons to those I listed for the 1892 Columbian, I would also have to include the 1982 George Washington half dollar - the first coin of the modern series. I like to start stories at the beginning! And besides, I think it's a great-looking coin - Elizabeth Jones did a terrific job with its designs. And there you have it, my theoretical Dansco 7070 Album "US Commemorative Half Dollars" Set.
