@ Coinfrog...come on man, I earlier asked about a rim Cud and the poster only supplied additional photos...(confirming what I was seeing was from a rim hit, as panzaldi pointed out) eve You left your first comment (without any follow-up question) But returned to the topic...Why? and Left more un-needed replies... Let's try to keep all comments friendly, poster is new here and just trying to gain knowledge. CCB420...thanks for the added photos...check vamworld.com for any markers....

Get um frog. Your coin has sustained too much damage to be graded straight. Keep looking.

Thanks greasy! So that line/Crack going from the rim damage, right above the A, through the S & T, through the left wing, and while pic doesn't show well, continues through "ED" in United, ending at the much smaller dent on rim above the T, was all from the whatever caused the biggest rim dent?

as originally pointed out and confirmed by the rim shots the coin was probably dropped and its not a Cud. I dont think thats the big issue here. the issue is with the huge hit on the breast.

I get it, that's a big ding, and maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong angle, but I'm trying to figure out what could cause those 3, actually there's a 4th to the left of the biggest, that's the smallest, but they all seem to be the exact same damage, in 4 different sizes!! I'm trying to figure out how this thing either hit, or got hit, by the same object, at the same angle 4 times, that made the same ding just in 4 different sizes? And there's no brighter colors anywhere on the damage, the color is uniform! If you look at the biggest on the breast, you can see what looks like the pull pin of a grenade, on the right side! If you look at the 2nd biggest, it also has the same pull pin image in the same place. The 3rd largest, doesn't show the pull pin as defined as other two, but is still visible with naked eye. Now the smallest on the wing is just shaped the same, as it's too mall to see detail! That's normal?

I've been trying to search to see if the 1R VAM is a common VAM, but with no luck? Anyone have any insight as to that particular VAM's rarity?

No doubt its right online with the 1R, on both sides will try to post some good pics! An I know, it's a damaged coin, but I think it's pretty froggin cool that that my only Morgan has a special VAM # of which I learned about today

Keep in mind that all Morgan and Peace dollars are VAMs and a very small percentage of those VAM numbers command any sort of premium over the base value of the coin itself. This is a cool VAM given the die crack has some field displacement but unfortunately for this example the reverse is severely damaged... As for the rarity there are 18 examples accounted for in the SSDC census registry which makes it appear less common than many top 100, Hot 50 and Hit list 40 varieties.
