AS has been said - better pics needed. And also, as has been said, what can be seen hints at a dunk in acid (Nitric acid probably). Better pics will confirm.

Looks like the rims have been removed, possibly to make it the diameter of a dime.

One of our members has stated that it was common to file down a 1 cent coin to fit into the 10 cent slot at a vending machine.

Thinned and shrunk from acid. Probably used in a soda machine back then to get a 10 cent soda for a cent.

O.k. this is not due to acid. The coin is not damaged it's just smaller diameter size. I don't have the tool to measure the coin. The edge of the coin has not been filed it's all smooth.
