That would be a die chip. Would like to see full photos of the obverse and reverse. Cents from the '50s often have multiple issues.

we have seen this on the 'T often. But is it a chip? How could a chip occur inside the T which is incused into the die. and then it gets deeper on top of that? could it be a gouge inside the T on the die?

The bottom of the '6' is showing a damaged working hub on the bottom of that area. This happened on several different dies that year.
The area inside of the '6' might be a struck through debris issue. But the inside and outside of the '6' are two different issues. (A die event and a striking event. They both just happened on this one coin)
