I have been working to assemble a nice type set of U.S. half dollars. The two I still need are the Draped Bust and Flowing Hair.

I'd been selling coins to raise money for one of them and then found this very nice 1806 Draped Bust graded EF-45 by PCGS. I decided to buy it but needed to move some money from my bank account to my PayPal account in order to pay for it.

I did that last week and waited for the money to transfer. Two days before the transaction was complete, someone else got the coin. That's life.

I'm back to the search.

Dang!! I use a credit card with Paypal so I get a month to transfer the money and pay off the credit card. That way I can purchase a coin immediately if I spot a deal.

When I use PayPal it draws directly from my account or credit card with no delay?
Or if that wasn't option why not contact the seller, explain the situation and ask them to hold it for a few days?

The good news is that there are always more out there.

I found a nice AU-50 but at a distinctly higher price tag. There is no rush.

I am hunting for a draped dollar too, I probably won't go as high as XF45 but I want exactly that look. That coin is beautiful, and if it really called to you then I'm sure we all know the feeling of it getting away. Hope you find another one equally good or better!

Coins come and go. There's always a backup plan. I sold two double eagles to get an attractive but cleaned VF 1795 flowng hair dollar. Whatever reason I had for buying the double eagles was long forgotten, but it will be a long time before I upgrade that dollar.

I've run into similar problems and Paypal's rules make no sense in this instance. It takes days to tranfer money from my own "verified" bank to paypal, yet my brother can "friends and family" me over some money and the transfer is instant
