If you can post large clear pictures of both obverse and reverse (only one coin at a time please) we would be happy to give opinions.

@thor, first welcome to CCF. Second, that cent has been plated after it left the mint. You can see the underlying copper in that gouge on the rev rim. I think someone took a knife to it to confirm.

I have a 1927 the same. So they are fake and someone was trying to peddle them?

Well not fake as the cents were issued by the mint. It is just that someone plated it to make it look like a mint error.

Actually people used to plate pennies to use in jewelry. But this one looks more like someone was using a soldering gun and solder b/c of the various lumps here and there. But the pics are also a bit fuzzy so not easy to be sure.

However, it is all post mint damage and not worth anything extra.

@thor, I've been moving your pics of the second coin that you posted to a separate thread. Please only post one coin per thread. Thx.

I'm sorry man. Using my iPhone and the UI is not the friendliest. Trying to figure it all out.

Looks like paint on the coin. You can see the copper on the worn off paint areas. Just an altered 1944 cent.
