Well they have done it again.

All these were ordered on Jan 6th with a shipping date in April. Well I talked to the mint tonight and they are all being put on back order. Come on US Mint get your act together. They can produce all the eagles and all the other coins but limited issues of 15,00 they can't put together. I am slowly losing faith with the mint. I just know that all of you have horror stories with the mint.Ok I have said my peace. Edited by SaturnD51

Sadly I have no real horror stories, I've always gotten what I ordered and the limited edition items I've been able to sell for a profit. The only annoyance is that the us mint isn't going to produce proof Morgan's and Peace dollars. |

Did the mint say they are short of planchets for these like the canceled 2022 Morgan/Peace, or maybe it's other production problems? The mint made almost 4 billion of the clads and pennies the first quarter of this year, according to CoinNews.net

I just talked to a lady that really didn't know what was going on. I told her I am sorry but they probably tell you what to say to the customers why back order is on their order status online. I explained to her about all the silver coins of silver eagles and everything else they produced throughout the year and when they get ready to mint the coins I ordered in January, oh they are out of planchets. That is what I have been hearing online and the news.I guess that is why they had low production of eagles and no Morgans maybe. I am just saying why do they wait till the end and then say oh we ran out of stock. Maybe when I talk to someone at the mint tomorrow I will find a better answer. The person I talked to tonight was answering the phone at home, could hear her young child in the background. Or maybe it was bring your kid to work day. Either way I hope to hear an answer soon or unless someone else has an answer. Thanks.

The Negro League dollars amd Purple Heart dollars are minted on a different size planchet than ASEs, so the ASE production has nothing to do with it. I believe the Negro League/Purple Heart planchets are the same that would have been used for proof Morgan/Peace dollars. The USM gets the planchets from another vendor who may be having production problems. |

I have been hearing that by contract, the mint has to buy silver at the spot price. Premiums for physical silver are through the roof so they may not be able to get any wholesaler to sell them silver at the paper spot price.

From reading several articles the main reason that the Morgan and Peace Proof were canceled is that the mint was unable to get the correct sized planchets in a sufficient amount to provide enough for expected demand. During the confirmation hearing of Ventris Gibson, Patrick Tooney asked about the Peace and Morgan specifically: From CoinWorld: "Gibson responded by informing the committee, " For 2022, we thought about how we can go about ensuring that we will have enough coinage, Morgan and Peace specifically, for the customers, especially since we sold out in 2021 and could not meet that customer demand. I pulled together a team of experts from manufacturing, sales and marketing, legal and the chief fiscal officer to make sure that going forward, we could produce the Morgan and Peace in 2022, given the fact we also have to balance our silver supply chain with our bullion program, which is Congressionally mandated. Thus, we made the decision that we would bypass 2022, and in 2023 make the Morgan and Peace coin, and that way make enough, sufficient to satisfy customer demand." Toomey responded in his closing remarks that it would seem better to meet some demand and maintain continuity. "I would just ask respectfully to consider that possibility," to which Gibson replied, "I surely will."You can never say never, I for one would rather fight it out to get a limited release high profit coin rather than everyone gets one that wants it. |

My credit card was charged for the silver dollar and medal set this morning. However, I have not received any email updates from the Mint.  |

jbuck you are right I checked my bank and they charged me for just the 139.95 two coin set just now. Well will have to see when they charge for the others.Thanks for the heads up.
