Hello CCF,
I got this 2022 D Maya Angelou Quarter today out of a vending machine. On the scale it weighs 5.63. well within parameters. Although its barely circulated and already down half a gram. Please let me know what yoyou think. I'm looking for an expert on this one. If it's unique, what is the error/variety? And what do you estimate it would bring at auction?

As always, any help is greatly appreciated. Hope this one's a winner!

@jil, if your quarter weighs 5.63 g, then as you say it is well within mint tolerance. It definitely isn't 0.5 g too light though. Otherwise, I'm seeing scattered circulation marks and perhaps a folded over Rim Fin. This quarter looks pretty normal to me and seemingly would be only worth face value.

Apologies, I ment to say .05 grams. None of my other 2022 Maya Angelou quarters have a almost completely nickel reeds. Or a folded edge. Oh well. I'll just put it in a sleeve and let it collect some dust. Thanks for the input. &&

No problem at all. Please check back though as you can reasonably expect 5-10 replies to your thread and sometimes folks see stuff that others miss.

When a blank is punched out of the laminated sheet, sometime the punch is dull. It will smear the nickel thru the copper, then you have a planchet that looks silver on the edge.

Would like to hear from Dr. Coop and the other experts on this one, as there is an unusually small and uneven amount of copper core showing on this one. Also, it's best not to handle a coin's surfaces with bare fingers, as oils could cause permanent fingerprints.

I agree with what has been said already. Just a spender.

You can see some of the copper showing through on the reeded edge and on the rim as well. Just a spender, as others have said.
