Do you ever find yourself at a show seeing a coin you like only to come back later after wandering the bourse floor and it was sold

Yes it happened a couple times to me.
I wanted a 1857 Half Cent and an 1857 large cent both from the same dealer at a show here in S. Williamsport in XF ish AU ish condition about 10 years ago. They were a nice matching pair.
Could have had both under 200.00 total for sure but when I went back.
GONE!
I wake up sometimes in a cold sweat still on some nights.

Every April there is a coin show in a small town that I pass through every now and again. One year there was a dealer there who had some great looking Japanese Ichibu for a great price. I was kicking myself for not having bought one. The following year I went back and he still had nearly all of them. The dealer claimed that since they weren't dated, most people weren't that interested in them. This inclined him to give me an awesome deal on one. See, waiting can pay off too

What's worse is not remembering which dealer had the coins you were interested in, not being able to find them again, & going home wondering if they were sold or just hidden under other stuff. I have got to start writing things down.

All this is just normal. Nothing new at all here. Not only at coin shows but really normal at a large flea market. There can't even find which aisle.

When these things happens it becomes unforgettable and most of us experience it for sure. I always justify it and tell myself, it was not meant for me, but still you never forget.

If I am looking for a particular coin at a show, I usually buy the first one that I see. I've had too many instances where I couldn't remember where I saw what I later decided I wanted. Just one more sign of old age!
