What are your thoughts on the authenticity of the coins in this video? These are all Chinese coins. The video was recorded I'm guessing somewhere in China, which is why the video is in Chinese. How do the coins look? Do they appear to be authentic? What are your thoughts? My guess is that the guys in the video believe the coins to be real, but I could be wrong (not fluent).

After all that mumbling, the coin shop guy basically said the supposed silver coins are counterfeits ("uncomfortable-looking coins"). Although he did say that the 1913 Szechuan 200 copper cash is authentic.

The dialog is in mainland Chinese mandarin, the collector brought in the coins to show the dealer and tried to test his knowledge, dealer pick the top 4 and said that these would buy a piece of property alone, but stated if they were only if authentic. The collector said he has thirty years of experience and he believe these were genuine, dealer said you can do another thirty year looking at it.

The only thing that was real is the last copper piece the dealer comment, and the collector said he got it for twenty yuan.

To add on, dealer said that the patina was convincingly done, normal people / novice collectors would probably accept them as the real deal.

The video does seem scripted though. I'm guessing it was shot in Shanghai ? Can't place the accent, native Chinese would probably know.

im guessing more northern China from accent but could be very far off. Yeah they are fakes but the top 4 too rare to be bought as there might only be a few hundreds of mintages, not an expert. he was like no thankyou on buying them.

This dealer seems quite ethical assuming that these videos aren't fake. In other videos, he would pay up for the real coins and tell the seller that they would have 3 days to claim
back the coins if they changed their mind. Guess he knows too that this would attract more viewers to bring items to him, smart.

Thanks for recommending this channel Newguy22, some of the stories are pure gold, even better than the items themselves, some highlights:

- Lady claims lightning struck a tree splitting it in 2, damaging her goat pen, upon repairing it, she dug the foundations and found a jar full of old silver dollars.
- Another Lady finds jar of silver coins hidden under her toilet ?! Coins were super crusty, dealer still takes a close whiff of the coins upon hearing this lol

Geez, I would have fallen for it.

I thought the common fat man would have better odds of it being genuine but seeing that there are too many rarities would have raised alarm bells.
