Maybe AU53 area. I'm not an expert in them but it looks like a lamination condition

Possible woody characteristics--subtle. I'd go with AU50--photos are a tad soft.

Vacation pick ups are fun...always makes you smile and remember were you got it : ) LWC's from the 20's are a tough bunch...most were just so weak with so much DDD. I think you did good picking this one up...Nice rims, no open field hits, no distracting hits on the face or jacket. The reverse has a couple small device ticks...but over all very handsome. I'll say AU-58 or better.

In hand it appears mint state to me, strike weakness gives it the circulated look, has a real nice satin luster, very clean fields and eye appeal in hand, other than the weak strike typical of 20's San Francisco mint Lincolns.

I don't think it's been cleaned but I do think it's seen some very light circulation. AU-58.

Quote: 63BN - details, cleaned if not cleaned 64 brown. I have a lot of trouble distinguishing a cleaned coin. Would love to hear why or what is seen to make it cleaned. Great lesson for me to learn!

The patina is totally stripped on 1/4 of the coin by something. It could have been sitting on edge and a liquid just hit that part. Obviously, I don't think it was intentional but that coin should have an even, brown patina.

I think the patina is more because of the alloy mix, where it crosses colors it goes woodie, which is more apparent in hand.
