Hi. I have had this penny fot quite some time. It has a green tint to it. And it weights slightly less than a normal colored penny. Any thoughts? Is it just normal oxidation? Thank you.

To the CCF What is the weight to two decimal points? don't forget there is a mint tolerance of .12 so your cent could weigh between 2.38g and 2.62g and still be within spec. The colouring is probably due to some environmental exposure, it wasn't that colour when the coin was minted.

@deb, first welcome to CCF. Second, the weight and color are likely unrelated. I'm interested to see you post what it weighs to see if your cent is below mint tolerance or not.

Copper can turn many different colors depending on its composition. Green is one of them when copper tarnishes - just look at the statue of liberty

thank you for your input. Even though the coin isn't noteworthy, I think that I will hang on to it anyway.

If the photo color is similar with the coin means that by mistake the plating anode was bronze or yellow cooper. This coin maybe those who like the toning coins variations will give a premium.
@Dear, sorry the Liberty Statue is bronze done by a French sculptor in France and brink here by ship. It is what we say French Bronze.
