I could use some help determining if this is a pre error or post damage. Some of it is obviously post damage but the more I look at it I'm starting to see faint letters that do t belong. I read in another post the if it had edges on one side and not the other then it's post but this one has the rim on both sides. And I feel like It has faint lettering on the obverse and reverse that doesn't belong.

Even the extra letters and designs that look stamped on or under? I definitly see post damage but that doesn't explain the faint lettering that doesn't belong.like on the obverse side through his forehead to the back of his head it looks like there is something else stamped then on the reverse on the top right of the top of the building and right above five cents you can see a design or letters that don't belong.

@thomp, first welcome to CCF. Second, damage can take many forms and sometimes damage from one event is overlaid on damage from a separate event.

In the particular case of your coin, for sure the lack of features on the front and back are due to heavy mechanical wear. Whether there might be underlying letters from a counterstamp or just oddly shaped gouges is impossible to know.

For me, this coin would be a spender but of course keep it if you think it is interesting. The cost of ownership is low.

Not an error, there is nothing on that coin that can't be attributed to PMD.

Looks like it was "sanded" on the sidewalk. PMD.

Note all the devices that are affected are the highest on the coin. They fields so some/non affected devices on those areas.
