elliottite Valued Member United States 259 Posts	Posted 08/13/2022 06:18 am Hello and Hi....looking through some pocket change I noticed on this penny that on LIBERTY, at least the part in between the edge of the coin and the L, and above the IN, seems to be rough or gouged. The smearing of metal toward the rims in this case is due to the die being tired when it was used to strike this cent.
