Hello and Hi....looking through some pocket change I noticed on this penny that on LIBERTY, at least the part in between the edge of the coin and the L, and above the IN, seems to be rough or gouged. Not real sure how to explain it. Hopefully the photos say enough. Thank you for your shared knowledge.
@ell, those are amazingly good pics. The smearing of metal toward the rims in this case is due to the die being tired when it was used to strike this cent.
