So I bought a big error/variety collection today from a dealer. As usual mostly a bunch of die cracks, die chips, and similar stuff. But in the mix I am finding some really nice stuff. Will post a few then get back to searching the collection, which will take at least a week to get through. 1939 Jefferson nickel doubled die - DDR-001, FS-801

Awesome DDR! I like the "O"'s in Monticello and the "F" in Five.

Thanks! Yeah, there's a lot to like with this DDR. If this was a DDO this strong it'd be on everyone's bucket list, but even as a DDR this one remains very popular.

Nice one! Fun to see this one pop up here and there. Nice die state on your coin too.

Very nice example TB. I never came across one despite searching over 380,000 nickels - likely to purchase one someday.

Hi ns, Been figuring you would chime in here. Not sure if it's just because most of what I get in is unsearched, and I don't even search that many nickels, maybe 5000 tops in a year, but I've picked up around 10 of these over the years. But never one in MS condition just circulated coins with this one maybe around as nice as I've seen. Always hopeful for a killer grade example, but it's such a strong doubled die that it really stops you in your tracks when you first see it.

I wonder if they pulled this die before the die wore out? A subject to look into one day. If they were all The same die state, that maybe why they are harder to find?
