It's certainly higher than most mint marks. However, the coin you are referring to has the D punched directly West of the 5 nearly closing the gap between the date and the hair bow. I find this picture under an older thread.

Agree, not really a high mint mark. Don't forget they were hand punched and anything in that area is acceptable.
As far as advice, this is the best place to get it.
Just post clear photos of both sides one coin per thread.

@dee, with regard to your use of the term "rare" when describing this coin, remember that every coin struck from the obverse die would have the same mintmark location. That means there are thousands and thousand of other examples of this.

But in case they noticed this issue with the die, they may have made a short run of these. How can you tell if this happened? The die state will be in the earliest die state and few of these will be found. If this happened to this die, I don't know. But there are doubled dies where this did happen:
1955 big DDO, noticed in the EMDS die state.
1958 big DDO, only 3 known.
1969-S Big DDO, probably less than 50 known. (most have Machine Doubling on these dies, but still keepers as they are high dollar coins)

Yes @coop I agree 100% on those big DDOs, but the OP's coin has a mintmark which is reasonably close to the target area. Do you really think that the mint would have done a short run for this mintmark location?

Spence you are right to say a reasonable small high, but not enough to be the variety in cause. what I see here is an small variation of the MM. In my studies and others also, the high MM seem to be done by only one Die. Me I find 2 in 2500 sets UN. Another very recognized analyst and collector find 1 in 1500 coins from bags, which seem to be somewhere between 0.2-0.11 %. This it is the story of this coin.

In our case here we do not made face at this variant of the MM and is far from.
