I picked this up because of the dramatic (stuttered) die clash but found a bonus error as this coin is underweight at 7.36g. The seller had several of these and they all seemed to have the same strike weakness so I'm assuming they were all underweight. The coin is also missing edge lettering so this is a nice triple error! From the brief research I did I believe this is also from the Denver mint based on edge characteristics.

Here are overlays:

2007-$1-George-Washington-Major-Clashed-Dies-&-Thin-Planchet

If the planchet is thinned, that would explain the under weight?
If the weight is normal, then the Washington could be a Struck Through Grease error.
Depending on what is going on with the coin. But a very nice clash error. (Had to create images for this type of clash)

Several, same dealer, same strike weakness and all possibly underweight? Throw in the "missing edge lettering" and I'm setting on the counterfeit side of the opinion fence.

Thanks Tanman2001, I wasn't expecting that response but it does make sense. There were some other parts of the design that I questioned but I dismissed because of the weak strike. Seller said he got them from his local bank so there maybe lots of these floating around.

I'm digging that one! If he's got a couple of them pick one up for me and I'll trade you something fun for it. Just not so many modern counterfeits out there and this one is a doozy. George looks like he lost a barfight.

Wow. Thanks Coinhi and Tanman.

It would have gotten me as well even though I picked up a pair of counterfeit clashed Peace dollars (along with some "regular" counterfeit CC dollars) a couple of years ago that were presented as legit. I realized they were bogus but wanted them as a learning tool. 10 packaged together so they couldn't be weighed individually. All were underweight, which is a good indicator of counterfeit. The strong design elements on the deeper parts of the die were a big part of the visual giveaway.

EDIT: Also, I just noticed that on the counterfeit, the tip of Georges's nose seems to have a crease/fold that resembles a nose wattle. LOL
