on my 1964 D cent is that a small die chip on his upper lip if so does it add value to it other than face value and being that small would it be collectible to anyone other than I think its neat

Hmm not sure. It seems like die chips on the portrait are much more commonly posted here on dimes than cents.

Difficult to make out clearly because of shadows in the area. If not a die chip, then possibly metal pushed up from a small hit?

I agree, note the metal was moved from a hit to the coin. A die chip is often between where the fields/design area breaks off the die, laving a void. The void is filled on the coin and shows a raised area on the coin:

These are common die events and don't have a lot of interest in them (except for newbies) and are not a big thing, just a die event. Usually no premium for these. (They are not like a Cud, that is a die ending event and the amount of coins are few after this die event happens)

CoopHome: What is a die Chip? Why are they die events and common? breakaway area on a die that leaves a void. when the void is filled, it will show as a raised area the shape of the void on the coins. part of the die aging process and easy to find.

I agree, the lip took a hit from the south and moved up the metal into a small pile.
