Hi.
I was experimenting with a rose torn on the pennies I have had problems identifying their RPM's and this thing popped up.
I'm not sure what to make of this, but this is weird.
Your input and opinion is always appreciated.
Thanks.

Looks like a die chip or possibly misplaced metal.

Looks like it's incused, if it is then I think it's a small void in the planchet.

Definitely not an extra "D".

Yes, not an extra D mint mark. In addition to the above, may have been a strike through.

Question -- Is the feature raised or sunken (incuse)?

Or a glued on mintmark from another coin? Note how it stands taller than normal.

I don't think it is even metal. When I enlarge it it looks slightly opaque. Glue maybe?

Try soaking the coin in acetone. It will probably come off.

Hi!
I soak this coin in Olive Oil for 4 hours and then in Acetone for 30 Seconds. Not taking chances to screw up.
Here are the results from different angles...The chip is not budging.

Wrong shape for a mintmark for that year. Could have been glued with Epoxy? It didn't happen at the mint.

Geez Coop, same environment and metal content to me...but then again, people do the craziest things and not too smart to glue it a mile away...he, he.
