I don't see how this can be natural wear:

The only similar wear I've seen on Australian coins has been on early florins:

But these two dollar coins are 20 years old at most.

Two Dollar coins have been forged.
One way to cover up the markers that would indicate a forgery would be to 'jingle' such fakes.

Two Dollar coins have been forged.
One way to cover up the markers that would indicate a forgery would be to 'jingle' such fakes or subject them to very heavy artificial wear.

If a genuine coin or not, this coin would not have any interest to a collector.

It could be a pocket piece. This would accelerate the "natural" wear by a considerable amount.

Interesting. A collector of 'questionable coins' might find these fun to have for conversational purposes.

I agree. Is there a large amount of wear on the rim as well?

The edges haven't been worn entirely smooth. The reeded segments are still evident.

Yes,that's the 'no eyes' $2 forgery by the look of the Photo.

The guy who was stealing the $2 Coins from the RAM in the 1990's induced wear by putting them in a plastic jar/container and running the cycle thru a washing machine.
