Thanks CC. One thing I notice is that the bust of Liberty in the obverse is really pushed out to the right side of the coin. Not aware that there is an off-center variety of this coin like some 1795 draped bust dollars. Liberty is really far from star 1 on the left side but is touching star 13. Seems like an error in centering the bust in the obverse correctly.

Left of the bust, hair in the back, is so far from star 1.

Beautiful! I'd say AU-58. As far as I know, this is the bust position for all 1806 bust halves.

If this were a Morgan dollar I'd say the dull areas in the fields are due to circulation and peg it at AU-58.
But, this a draped bust half, with significant luster in the fields and generous mint frost over the devices on both sides. If it's been cleaned it could fool me. I'm going mint state, with small ticks and stains as the grade-limiting factors. Seems like a solid MS-63 with a shot at 64, assisted by excellent overall eye appeal.
Beautiful coin. Care to share the purchase price?

Thanks for the kind comments. A deal is proposed - If I get 25 earnest guesses at the price from 25 different CCF members before the 48 hours are up I will reveal what I paid for the coin. I will even give a numismatic prize to the closest guess without going over a la Price is Right. Let me think on the prize and will post it later here.

One guess per customer.
If a member has multiple guess, the first guess will apply.
If more than one person guesses correctly, the first correct guess wins.
25 earnest guesses are needed for the prize to be awarded.

I'm with several others on this one seems like an AU58 and just shy of Mint State I think, could go as high as MS63, but I think it's graded AU.

As to the price paid? I'm guessing $10,550.00
