If the areas are incuse, you could be seeing zinc, which means the zinc planchet is breaking away. It was normal, the fell apart later in circulation. Not a keeper. Just damage to the coin. If a platted zinc coin exposed to Cl and has the Cl access to Zn will form this oxide and also blow the ZN. Report this Post to the Staff
