RedRaider calls it - this is clearly cleaned, and while I believe it's genuine, I would never have paid $14K for a damaged coin.

14K for this in a basement slab?

While true that TPGs only grade 1856 FECs as proof, the S-3 variety is widely considered to be the MS striking of the coins. They were the initial batch struck to give out to congress and other dignitaries.
PCGS used to grade the S3s as MS and if you have an old holder with on designated as MS, you can revolver and retain the designation. If you crack it out and submit raw, it will be graded as a proof.

Almost looks like a Brillo Pad was taken to it. What a shame.

Looks good to me. Too bad it's been cleaned. I don't know how much monetary difference a Details grade would be.

Belongs in a PCGS or NGC slab. Still pricey despite its flaws.

For the record, HiBid is an auction platform. You aren't buying ANYTHING from HiBid, you are buying from various sellers running auctions through HiBid. With any platform, you need to carefully understand both sets of Terms & Conditions. Those of HiBid and those of the actual seller. You might find for example, the buyers premium varies drastically. https://hibid.com/home/bidderusertermsespecially: 3. Additional Terms Posted by Seller. and 4. Additional Fees by Seller.

$14k seems high for a basement slab -- no premium over that of a raw coin. If it were me, I'd return it.
