@jbuck got it right, but I'd put bullets first!
@crok, if you're just looking for affordable silver, stick around the forum for awhile. We have an active Buy / Sell / Trade section and when you have enough posts you can join the conversation.
In the dire case of a societal breakdown, being able to defend yourself would be the highest priority. As the comedian Bill Burr rifts, no sense in stockpiling all sorts of food and supplies just to have somebody come and take it all.
A currency collapse in a major country has the remotest of probabilities. But if you are in Lebanon or Ghana or Argentina, etc., that could be tomorrow.
In a situation you describe I would go with lead over silver, preferably the kind already loaded.
That said I do stock food in the 25 year freeze dried cans. I'm 61 so I figure in ten years I will just start eating it to pad out my retirement. Given food inflation is running over 10% that can of powdered eggs good for 25 years is appreciating faster than any silver and most stock market investments right now.
I don't prep for nuclear war, major social breakdowns, and the like. What I do prep for is minor supply chain disruptions, localized food shortages, the USD devalueing, etc. The big events are just too big, I don't see surviving a nuclear bomb, but I do see eating good if there is a localized food shortage.
In the Bible Jospeh stored 7 years of grain during the good times to survive 7 years of bad so the concept isn't all that new.
PS Most survival stuff sold is useless for the average person so be choosy. Look carefully at your skills and needs before spending your money.
Like a lot in the US I carry daily for self defense but my needs are different than say the average police officer yet it seems most of the carry gear is geared more to them. In an armed confrontation my goal is simple, to get myself and family away from it. The police run in (or should) I run away. I train to escape not confront.
Be real, you can't defend your home from an assault force made up of more people than you have in your house.
If there is one of you and one of them, they have the element of surprise. They can just wait outside and pick you off if you ever come out (or pass by a window that is not obscured).
They can just burn you out.

Twinkies.. It seems that Twinkies can last decades if stored well. Imagine having a cache of slabbed Twinkies. That way, their bartering value would be very high because they've been authenticated, and are in a somewhat protective slab as well. One slabbed Twinkie for 50 lbs of potatoes and 6 chickens...

Quote: I've planned ahead. We're just three miles from a primary target. A millisecond of brilliant light and we're vaporized. Much more fortunate than millions who wander sightless through the smoldering aftermath. We'll be spared the horror of survival.
