I'm looking for opinions on this wheatie. The date and mintmark are definitely worn, but in hand it looks exactly like, well you tell me ;) I took numerous shots and this is the best view I can get without washing out the surface completely. So, please take a gander and give your opinion date, mintmark, and condition. Update: In hand this looks 98% like a 1914-D but I just can't capture the last digit due to wear. If it were a 1914-D I'd have been interested in a grade, but as a 1918-D it's not a keeper and no grade needed. Thanks for looking! Edited by jeffbuckes 01/07/2023 09:57 am

My vote is for this being a 1918 D.
If you want folks to estimate the grade, you are gonna need to include a similarly nice pic of the reverse though. Thx.

I'll say 1918-D as well, with a high level of confidence.

Dagnabit - in hand it looks 98% like a 1914-D but I just can't get the last digit to show.
As for grades - I suppose it doesn't matter if it's a 1918-D :(

To get a sense for an accurate grade, we'd need to see the reverse. Thanks.

Looks like 18-D to me as well.

Given the rounded base of the last digit, I'm in with 1918-D. Mathematically, the odds are in favor of the 18-D, about 40 to 1.

the position of the MM relating to date does not match any of the 5 obverse dies. the only obverse die that comes close is obv die#3 where the left side of the D lines up with the right side of the 9. however, the right 1 in the date is too close to the MM to be die #3 I'm almost 100% certain you dont have a 14D as to what it is i'll let everyone comment on that last digit

@panzaldi - that's a great analysis and that's why I love this forum!
Thanks to everyone who chimed in. I guess I had sand in my eyes and was dreaming of a semi-key date !!!
