This it is not Die error. It is an scratch after striking. We say PMD (post mint damage)

 to the CCF I agree with a deep scratch post mint that raised the two edges seen along that central trough.

Damage is damage. A die issue would be raised, and not incuse if it were a die crack. An attempt to create a die error. (Not saying it was your creation, but the mind set to try to make something that looks like a mint error)

if that anomaly is raised, it is considered to be from a die event, such as a die chip

if in a sandbox, you smooth the sand until it is perfectly level, then run a stick through the sand, you'll get a long trough in the sand, plus sand mounded up parallel on both sides of the trough, that looks like what this nickel has under both of Tom's eyes, actually
