I know this has to be PMD but it is so weird looking I thought I would share. Is this an obvious vise job or what?

That is interesting looking. Slightly out of round, obverse and reverse. Cannot identify what was pressed into it but probably something soft, to protect the reverse, during the squeeze, leather or something similar.

Unusual damage in that the reverse is not affected that badly.

But damage nonetheless. However it happened it's simply a damaged coin.

When I think of a typical vise job, I see someone stacking two or more coins and applying pressure to transfer some of the design between coins. This was done with mechanical compression as well, but perhaps not intentional. Either way it would be a spender for me.

It could have been damaged by a vise on the obverse and the reverse may have had a layer of leather across the reverse to protect it from damage?

Do the 2 the 0 and the B appear to be on top of the damage somehow. Kind of strange with no indents of the back of the coin pushing up the areas where the 2 and 0 are

Actually the reverse has "waves" in it which you can see and feel. It is pushed out in the area between the two long lines on the obverse. But I agree whoever did this went out of their way to not damage the reverse. It is normal weight 2.49 grams.
