This one is a doozy. I'm guessing the guy was switching out the coins and using the original labels and white insert then using the Chinese slab shells to make them look new and good again. Might not fool a dealer or long time collector that is up on things, but there is so much money to be made by fooling the beginner and uneducated collector. I find it sad that many that get taken, then leave the hobby with a bad taste of our wonderful hobby, never to return. All due to one dishonest jerk! https://www.ngccoin.com/news/articl...pering-case/Here are the ebay names he may have been selling under: ricalbr-40 (October 2020 - June 2022) Walkerlvr (June 2022 - November 2022) halfcrazy23 (November 2022 - Present) Much more in the article if you think you may have been a victim, read the link... NGC is suing the person and has a restraining order.
It is good if people become aware that there can be consequences to selling fake coins/ slabs.

It is still reasonable to expect that slab fakers outside of the US will continue to have little regard and even less knowledge and respect of US Law.

Wondering what 'the guy's' legal representation is saying...

Quote: If the case goes to a final decision, NGC stands to recover damages up to $200,000 for each instance of tampering and misrepresentation. quote from article This is either extreme overkill, or this guy was messing with very high end coins.

If you read the complaint, NGC shows some that are actually genuine cases - he cracked the edge, replaced the coin and then used some heat to partially reseal the slab. Sell the genuine coin raw (or send it off to be slabbed) and make even more on the con.
