So rather you like my comment or post, remember that I'm new to this and thought it was a black beauty!!! Now rather being sarcastic to this post isn't helping me at all now is it. I will eventually catch on & I was just a bit excited so sorry. I still think it's cool looking on front side so I'm putting it in my new collection via I was born in 71 thanks.

@twin, the cost of ownership is low so absolutely keep it if you want. My recollection is that so-called black beauties tend to be older than this nickel.

I don't think coinfrog was being sarcastic or anything to the contrary. Couldn't figure out what you were saying or wanting either as you didn't write anything in your post other than uploading a picture of the Jefferson nickel, and I'm new here too. And I'm assured as good as coinfrog is Despite there is no narrative Coinfrog Looked at the coin. Please don't be so sensitive this is a very easy going website.

I had a Kennedy half that looked kind of like that. It looked like it had been in a fire or something. Not worth much, but pretty cool looking!

That is a cool coin twinmoose. Also I have been on this site for a few years now, and everyone on here is very nice and helpful, just wanted to make you aware of that. I really think that this is one of the best coin roll hunting sites on the internet.

to the CCF Black beauty nickels are usually dated in the late 1950's. You have a coin with environmental staining.

Not much to add, other than encouraging collectors--new and old--to keep the coins they find interesting.

twinmoose, You,and all members need to use more words along with photos in your questions about a find of yours. If you would have told us you thought it was a black beauty, we would have known what to look for and help you with. Most of us are not good guessers to what members are thinking members have to tell us. John1

hvac, that nickel isn't a "black beauty", either.
