Perhaps a scratch on the reverse? Also, are you sure this hasn't been reprocessed? The surface looks awfully shiny in your first picture, but maybe that was just the lighting?

Would you take a photo of the edge, that will tell you if it has been reprocessed or not.

I'm thinking that's a plated '43--not a candidate for grading submission (my opinion). Possible die crack on the reverse. Over decades of cent searching/collecting, I've come across dozens of plated steel cents--they look just like this one.

Looks replated to me and not worth sending in. John1

Well, this coin has been re-plated, I initially thought that this could be a die crack, but I don't see it on the rim, so maybe not, unless it got covered by the plating process. Otherwise it could be a scratch

Sure looks reproccesed. Definitely not a grading candidate.

It was stored in the case but it could still be plated I have no doubts but can you still have minor spots on plated coins? I could take it to get checked out near me but is it worth it. Or is there another way to check for sure because I'm not seeing other ways and don't really want to play around with it if it's genuine. I have a nice coin that would have been in pristine condition other than my fingerprint on the obverse. When I first started I handled them in not the best way.

To check it out whether it has been plated or not is easy, that is why I asked for a photo of the edge. If it is shiny like the rest of the coin, then it has been plated. If it shows a steel core with a zinc layer on either side, then it is original.

Yep, Jimmy is correct. Can we get an edge image please?

This Coin is 1000% re-zinced.
It is not worth any premium, it is not worth driving to someone to check it out.

Found another on PCGS with the same mark by the c in cent but mine definitely looks plated over in that spot. It looks shinier that the one pictured which is genuine. It was a nice coin at one point.
