I see some ghosting plus evidence of die erosion. Is that what you are asking about?

Lines coming out from the rim particularly between God & We and overall flatness on monument. I assume it has something to do with die? I need some education on Die States. Heck I don't even know what the term ghosting means?

the cellulite look in the fields and softness of the lettering is indicative of die wear, still that's a high grade example, MS-64

nickels struck by fresh dies will have sharp lettering that looks like it was made via hammer and chisel

Thanks for the link, copy all on ghosting. Die Deterioration equate to LDS or VLDS correct?
Nick10 an anvil possibly involved also. I like that light gold color but I wish it was a blue flamer!

It is indeed a very late die state coin.

Very nice example of a (very) worn die.

die state labels are somewhat subjective, for nickels I tend to reserve the very late label for grossly distorted ones, many examples of which the mint churned out during early to mid 1980s

you can find many early die state examples among uncirculated War Nickels because their silver alloy was softer, and thus the dies did not wear as quickly
